Marshall Johnson

Pushing the boundaries of what is possible

Marshall Johnson  -

Marshall grew up in Te Wāhi Pounamu, the South Island, and began carving bone as a teenager. As his skills developed, he explored a range of artistic mediums, before discovering his passion for pounamu in his early twenties—marking the beginning of his journey as a stone carver.

Today, Marshall works primarily with pounamu, argillite, and occasionally petrified wood. He is driven to push creative boundaries, bringing exceptional, one-of-a-kind pieces to life. Marshall finds deep satisfaction in knowing his carvings are worn and carried by others, accompanying them on their personal journeys. He continues to refine his craft, evolving both as a carver and as an artist.
