This Triple Pikorua is hand carved from Kahurangi Pounamu, with a beautifully carved Koru in the lower section of the design. The warm green tones and natural variation of the stone give the piece a calm, connected presence, symbolising continuity and new growth. A refined pendant with gentle movement and character.
Pikorua- Double and triple Twists, resembles two intertwined pikopiko ferns. representing the paths of life and love or friendship and eternity. Double twists refer to the bond between peoples or culture rather than individuals - traditionally given as an offering of friendship between two different tribes.
Kahurangi- Genuine West Coast Greenstone from the Marsden, West Coast area. Kahurangi is the rarest variety of pounamu. It is highly translucent and often comes in vivid shades of green. Small, feather-like markings in the stone can give a cloud effect – although to be classed as Kahurangi, this effect must not reduce the stone’s clarity. The word Kahurangi also indicates nobility and refers to precious jewels and held in high esteem by Māori.
