Mark studied wood carving at Dunedin Polytech and has since transitioned into carving greenstone, working alongside his father, who has passed down his knowledge of Pounamu. Mark is a talented designer with a deep respect for traditional Māori designs and their meanings, which are reflected throughout his work.
Now based in Greymouth with his wife and children, Mark sees carving as a lifelong journey of discovery—rooted in heritage, sustained by creativity, and guided by cultural meaning.
