Pounamu from Te Wahi Pounamu - Carved with Care, Worn with Meaning.

Respectfully sourced stone, honest workmanship, and a whakaute for the stories each taonga carries

Kia ora. We’re Glad You’re Here.

Tēnā koutou. Kei te harikoa mātou i tō taenga mai.

Welcome to Moko Pounamu, where the beauty and spirit of Māori culture are brought to life through authentic, handcrafted Pounamu jewellery. For over 30 years, we have celebrated the legacy of New Zealand’s treasured greenstone, honouring its role as a taonga (treasure) and its deep connection to the land and people of Aotearoa.

What Makes Our Pounamu Different?

Respect for the Stone, Respect for the Story.

Te Whakaute ki te Pounamu, Te Whakaute ki te Kōrero.
  • Authentic Sourcing
Our pounamu comes from Te Wahi Pounamu, the Place of Greenstone -New Zealand's West Coast, where it’s been revered for generations. We work closely with local iwi and carvers who value tradition.

  • Hand-Carved in Aotearoa New Zealand
From shaping to finishing, our pendants, earrings and other jewellery is made using New Zealand Greenstone and utilising skilled crafts people.

  • Individual Character
Pounamu varies in colour, translucency, and pattern. We try to capture each piece as naturally as possible in our photography.  The piece you see online is the piece you will receive.

OUR CARVERS

Our Whānau & Workshop

We’re more comfortable working with stone than shouting about ourselves. But we know it can help to see the people behind the carvings. If you want a closer look at our day-to-day, or to meet the carvers who shape each piece, feel free to click below.

New born baby sleeping
By Louise Wedlake October 10, 2025
The arrival of a pēpi (baby) ignites any whānau with joy and a sense of connection. As we gather for their naming, tohi (dedication), or baptism, we seek taonga that embody our hopes and anchor them to their whakapapa.
