A symbol of strength and transformation, this sculpture represents Hine-nui-te-pō, the Goddess of Night and Guardian of the Spirit World. Gorgeously wrought in relief from Kawakawa Greenstone and held in a base of Aroha Stone, this is a powerful taonga for protection and spiritual connection.
Kawakawa- is the most common variety of Pounamu. it comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used in gem purposes.

– Aroha stone is found only in certain parts of Otago and Southland New Zealand. First discovered from the Shotover River in the beautiful mountains of Central Otago, Piemontite Schist stone was initially recorded as a Quartz-Muscovite-Piemontite Schist Boulder.
