Conrad Henderson – Māori Carver Honouring Native Materials with Precision and Respect

Hello I'm -

Hailing from Hamilton and of Ngāti Raukawa descent, Conrad has always been drawn to natural New Zealand materials. Starting out as a native timber cabinet maker, he progressed to teaching himself the art of carving—working with Kauri copal, wood, bone, and stone. From this journey, he established his own carving studio.

Drawing deep inspiration from the beauty of nature, Conrad’s work reflects a strong and respectful connection to the native materials he uses. His skill and attention to detail are truly sublime, and his carvings speak to both his heritage and his craftsmanship.
