An incredible water worn Kawakawa Pounamu Stone, found in the Arahura River. Sourced by Peter Tauwhare, with whakapapa rooted in the Arahura River, Peter sources his stone in the nearby Awa. Each stone that is found is blessed with a heart felt karakia to the ancestors.
Kawakawa- is the most common variety of Pounamu. It comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used for jewellery purposes.
