Moko Pounamu Bone Carving "Feather" -
Carved by Owen Mapp from cow bone, this feather pendant captures the graceful sweep and delicate texture of a natural feather. A smooth, raised central quill curves through the design, with finely carved lines fanning towards the edges. Its softly rounded base narrows into a gently curved tip, while warm ivory tones highlight the intricate surface detail.
Suspended from a black cord, the feather rests at an angle that emphasises its flowing shape. The contrast between the smooth quill and textured barbs gives the piece depth, creating an impression of softness in solid bone. An elegant pendant with a strong connection to nature, it makes a distinctive addition to a jewellery collection or a thoughtful gift for someone who loves birdlife.
These days many bone carvings are made from cattle bone as it is an ethically abundant source.
