Toki(Adze) – The Toki had much meaning for the Maori, fashioned from stone or greenstone it was an essential tool for survival and day to day life for the Maori. That is the reason Maori attribute the spiritual meaning of strength and power to the Toki. This symbol resembles determination, control, strength, focus and honour.
A Shepherd's whistle is used predominantly by the farmer to communicate commands to his sheepdogs and is often seen at sheepdog trials. This is an exquisite example of the whistle and is handcrafted from the most stunning piece of Kawakawa Pounamu. This pounamu whistle won’t bend or buckle over time like metal or plastic and produce clear, high frequency tones that are easy to modulate and vary the pitch. This allows the shepherd to communicate many different commands to his dogs giving precise instructions using only the whistle. The frequency is at optimal pitch for the dog’s hearing and allows to sound to penetrate through adverse weather and long distance when rounding sheep.
The perfect gift for anyone working with dogs and the bonus of looking like a pendant off the farm.
Kahurangi- Genuine West Coast Greenstone from the Marsden, West Coast area. Kahurangi is the rarest variety of pounamu. It is highly translucent and often comes in vivid shades of green. Small, feather-like markings in the stone can give a cloud effect – although to be classed as Kahurangi, this effect must not reduce the stone’s clarity. The word Kahurangi also indicates nobility and refers to precious jewels and held in high esteem by Māori.
