This elegant Moko Pounamu Toki (Adze) pendant is carved from NZ genuine Kawakawa pounamu, showcasing deep forest green tones with striking natural inclusions that create movement and contrast throughout the stone.
The rich green body of the pendant is beautifully complemented by lighter, cloud like patterning near the base, resembling mist or surf against stone. These natural formations highlight the individuality of the pounamu, ensuring each piece is truly one of a kind.
Kawakawa pounamu is valued for its strength and durability, with deep green tones symbolising resilience and grounding. The polished finish enhances the stone’s natural patterns, allowing the unique character of the pounamu to stand out.
Kawakawa- is the most common variety of Pounamu. it comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used in gem purposes.
Toki/Adze – The Toki had much meaning for the Māori, fashioned from stone or greenstone it was an essential tool for survival and day to day life for the Māori. That is the reason Māori attribute the spiritual meaning of strength and power to the Toki. This symbol represents Mana, determination, control, strength, focus and honour.
