Product Details

A gorgeous small Dolphin By master bone carver Peter Mitchell.

The Dolphin represents a free spirit and symbolizes playfulness, harmony and friendship. Closeness to nature, especially the ocean. Maori revered dolphins, as they did whales – believing them to be water spirits. There are legendary tales telling of gods, who had taken the form of dolphins, guiding sailors through treacherous waterways to keep them safe.

Traditionally carved from Whale bone, however these days many bone carvings are made from cattle bone as it is an ethically abundant source.

Hand Carved by Peter Mitchell

Size 38mm long x 34mm wide (approx)

This is an example of the carving you will receive. You will not receive this exact piece, but one that is similar. This is due to each individual Dolphin being carved from natural bone where the colouring will differ depending on the elements in the bone.
