This wonderful single Pikorua pendant, handcrafted from Kawakawa Pounamu, combines the graceful double twist form of the Pikorua with a Koru carved in the centre of the lower part. The stone shows rich green hues with a vein of lighter Greenstone visible. The carver has given the pendant a polished finish which brings out the best parts of the stone and the design. A beautifully detailed and meaningful taonga.

Pikorua/Twist- The Māori single twist or Pikorua resembles two intertwined pikopiko ferns. Representing the paths of ‘life and love’ or ‘friendship or eternity’. Because the Pikorua stands for infinite partnership, it makes it a perfect gift for lovers, newlyweds, fiancées, or others who want to emphasise their connection, their love for each other, their loyalty and friendship.

Koru- The Maori word for bright or loop. It refers to the shoots of the silver fern. The circular movement to the inner core refers to "going back to the beginnings". The unfurling frond itself 700is symbolic for new life, new beginnings, hope, personal growth, purity nurturing, a new phase in life, the spirit of rejuvenation and peace.

Kawakawa- is the most common variety of Pounamu. it comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used in gem purposes.
