Moko Pounamu Porohita (Disc) Koru NZ Genuine Auhunga Greenstone & Silver - Herutui
A beautiful Porohita with 4 Koru consisting of three korus overseen by one main koru, handcrafted from a gorgeous piece of Auhunga Pounamu with a silver surround and Koru inscribe findings. A very whānau-inspired taonga expressed through a beautiful piece of Pounamu.
Koru- The shoots of the silver fern, the circular movement to the inner core refers to "going back to the beginnings" as, at times, this is where we need to start. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of hope, personal growth, a new phase in life, the spirit of rejuvenation and peace, significant as we journey through life with its ebbs and flows, ups and downs. We have chosen four Koru – the larger one representing the personal journey, the others representing whanau, support and new beginnings.
Porohita - This shape represents the circle of life which has no beginning or end. Life is full of opportunities and these opportunities are endless, especially when you are surrounded by support and encouragement. You can achieve whatever you want to in life. Mental health is an everyday battle for many New Zealanders and this shape has been chosen not only to acknowledge this battle but to provide a reminder that your life matters.
Auhunga- Genuine West Coast Greenstone from the Arahura River area, West Coast. Auhunga Pounamu is a pale opaque green colour. Resembling the Southern New Zealand mountains, its name translates to frosty, given as the intermediate of Inanga and Kawakawa.
