This gorgeous Pig is one of a kind. Hand carved from a wonderful piece of Kawakawa Greenstone the deep, rich shade of green is magnificent. In ancient China the Pig was seen to be a symbol of wealth and was placed into the hands of the deceased as an expression of their desire for wealth in the afterlife. A skilfully crafted taonga.
Kawakawa- is the most common variety of Pounamu. It comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used for jewellery purposes.
