Product Details

A wonderful handcrafted pepi (baby) Toki from Kawakawa Pounamu. A beautiful gift for a Mokopuna (grandchild) or Tamariki (child)

Toki (Adze) – The Toki had much meaning for Maori, fashioned from stone or greenstone it was an essential tool for survival and day to day life. This is the reason Maori attribute the spiritual meaning of strength and power to the Toki. This symbol resembles determination, control, strength, focus and honour.

Kawakawa- is the most common variety of Pounamu. It comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used for gem purposes.

Hand carved in the Moko Workshops

30mm long x 18mm wide approx (each carving is hand carved, so will differ slightly)

This is an example of the carving you will receive. You will not receive this exact piece, but one that is similar. This is due to each Toki being carved from natural Greenstone where the colouring will differ depending on the elements in the stone.
