Mauri Stone
is a significant Māori concept and physical object representing the life force (mauri) or spiritual essence of a person, place, or thing, often a carved piece of pounamu (greenstone) that acts as a spiritual anchor, protector, or connection to home and community, fostering well-being, strength, and belonging. These tangible symbols are used in important ceremonies, to connect people far from home (like emergency responders), and to honor cultural values, ensuring the vitality and essence of a space or group is maintained.
Kawakawa- is the most common variety of Pounamu. it comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used in gem purposes.
