This elegant Koru breastplate is carved from classic Kawakawa pounamu, displaying the rich, mid to dark green tones this stone is loved for, with soft marbling and natural grey green veining running through the surface. The colour deepens beautifully in shadow and glows with translucent green light where the stone is thinnest, giving real depth and movement to the piece. Shaped as a broad, curved breastplate, the design features a bold Koru spiral at its heart representing new life, growth, and new beginnings with clean, polished lines that let the natural characteristics of the stone take centre stage. Kouma - Breastplate- sits close to the heart, symbolising protection, inner strength, and resilience. Kawakawa- is the most common variety of Pounamu. it comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used in gem purposes.
