Moko Pounamu Mere NZ Genuine Auhunga Pounamu - Karearea
This Auhunga pounamu Mere brings together the beauty of natural stone and the clean lines of a distinctive carved form. Its broad, rounded blade tapers gently towards the handle, creating a balanced silhouette that allows the individual colouring and markings of the Auhunga to take centre stage.
The flowing contours give this Mere a strong sculptural presence, making it a striking piece to display and admire. A special addition to a pounamu collection or a thoughtful gift, it offers lasting appeal through its elegant proportions and the natural character of the stone.
Mere or Patu is a type of short, broad-bladed weapon in the shape of an enlarged tear drop. It was used to strike/jab an opponent in the body or the head. The Mere signifies high status and gives the owner courage and strength. It is the same design as a Patu, but the difference is a Patu is made of wood, stone, or whale bone whereas Meres are made of Greenstone Pounamu.

Dendrites
are branching, tree-like inclusions, often composed of manganese oxide, iron, or chlorite, that form within fractures or during crystallization, commonly found in secondary, river-worn stones. These dark, brownish-yellow to black, moss-like patterns are prized for unique artistry and can be used to identify regional origins, such as in certain New Zealand nephrites.
