This contemporary drop koru is carved from Kawakawa pounamu, showing a rich, deep green with softer lighter tones blending through the stone's rounded, freeform silhouette. The pendant takes on a broad, triangular drop shape with gently curved sides tapering to a rounded base, and a single subtle koru spiral carved low on the surface, its fine incised line curling inward to a small central point that catches the light against the otherwise smooth, unbroken stone. Threaded with a black cord and finished with a simple woven knot. The surface is polished to a deep, glassy lustre, with the carved koru detail left slightly recessed to create a soft play of light and shadow across the piece.

Koru- The Maori word for bright or loop. It refers to the shoots of the silver fern. The circular movement to the inner core refers to "going back to the beginnings". The unfurling frond itself is symbolic for new life, new beginnings, hope, personal growth, purity nurturing, a new phase in life, the spirit of rejuvenation and peace.

Kawakawa- is the most common variety of Pounamu. it comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used in gem purposes.
