An exquisite Kōauau (Maori Flute) hand carved from 2 stunning pieces of Nelson Te Tau Ihu Pounamu. This beautifully carved Puoro (Instrument) has 3 holes to create a unique sound. this incredible instrument will be a great Taonga or an addition for any collector of musical instruments.
Kōauau is a traditional Māori cross-blown flute, more commonly made from wood, bone, or kelp, and used for entertainment, healing, and grieving. The instrument ranges in length and typically has three finger holes called wenewene. The music of the Kōauau often includes words, and skilled players can convey these through the instrument by manipulating their tongue and lips.
Pounamu
can benefit the wearer on many levels. Physically Pounamu is a healing crystal. It differs from Jadeite in that it heals all chakras and brings strength to all areas which are weakened in the body. Pounamu has a protective nature. It offers protection when travelling.
