Moko Pounamu Porohita (Disc) Genuine NZ Raukaraka Greenstone - Aratoro
A Porohita pendant, hand carved from Raukaraka Pounamu, showing rich olive and golden-green tones with soft sandy variation fading to the lower part of the piece. The circular form represents unity and the cycle of life. A fine polish enhances the warmth and depth of the stone, creating a serene and elegant piece of Greenstone jewellery.
Porohita/The Disc - Represents the circle of life which has no beginning or end. It means you have a choice to do and achieve whatever you want to in life. Its curved lines also represent the idea of energy and movement and like the cyclical nature of time and seasons, where one path ends, another begins. The Disc is also believed to have protective qualities and can symbolize a shield or a boundary that keeps negative influences and harm at bay.
Raukaraka- Genuine West Coast Greenstone from the Taramakau River Area. This is the term used by the Māori of the Cook Strait region of the Kawakawa variety that is streaked with a shade of olive green and has yellow and orange hues that blend into the greens. This stone shares its name with the New Zealand native Karaka tree.+
