Moko Pounamu Contemporary Design NZ Genuine Inanga Whale tail Greenstone - Iwikau
Elegant and symbolic, this Inanga whale tail pendant represents strength, protection, and safe passage across life’s journey. The whale tail is traditionally associated with guidance, resilience, and a deep connection to the ocean, making it a meaningful symbol of safe travel, strength, and harmony with nature. Its flowing spiral form reflects movement and continuity, capturing the spirit of the sea.
Handcrafted from genuine Inanga pounamu, this pendant displays soft milky green tones with beautiful translucency that highlights the natural beauty of the stone. The smooth, flowing carving enhances the graceful whale tail form, while the adjustable cord ensures comfortable everyday wear. Whether worn as a symbol of safe journeys or gifted to mark new adventures, this Inanga whale tail pendant carries both beauty and powerful meaning.
Inanga- Pounamu takes its name from a freshwater fish native to New Zealand. It is pale and often transparent, like the young of the Inanga fish. It is pearly white to grey green in colour, and ranges from translucent to quite opaque. It can change colour over time, developing a light olive tint as it ages and oxidises - Highly prized by the Māori and the desired material for making Mere and Patu.
