Aroha Stone
– Aroha stone is found only in certain parts of Otago and Southland New Zealand. First discovered from the Shotover River in the beautiful mountains of Central Otago, Piemontite Schist stone was initially recorded as a Quartz-Muscovite-Piemontite Schist Boulder.
Golden Bay Polychrome Schist- Also called 'Obay Stone" named after the man who found it. She has blue-green and orange tones with standout black iron inclusions. A gorgeous mix of Kyanite, Fuchsite and oxidised minerals throughout. These features are near impossible to capture in photographs. Because of the different compositions of the stone no two pieces will ever be the same making each piece unique and different. Its origins as a semi-precious stone are like pounamu in the way that it was formed - under tremendous pressure and extreme heat many years ago - but its makeup of different types of stone is what makes it unique and is a true collector's piece.
(Please not this stone is NOT Aotea but contains some of the same minerals, she is newly discovered, and we will add more information as we learn more).
