This Sterling Silver ring features a large, deep green Kawakawa Pounamu cabochon, hand set in a low bevel combined with a refined claw mount that allows light to enhance the stone’s natural depth and sheen. The beautiful setting complements the Greenstone’s rich hues and graceful form - a timeless and elegant taonga.
Kawakawa- is the most common variety of Pounamu. It comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used for gem purposes.
