Moko Pounamu Double Pikorua (Twist) NZ Genuine Inanga Greenstone - Takapo
A small and delightful Double Pikorua handcrafted from gorgeous Inanga Pounamu, this piece displays a beautiful change of colour across the piece.
Pikorua- Double and triple Twists, resembles two intertwined pikopiko ferns. representing the paths of life and love or friendship and eternity. Double twists refer to the bond between peoples or culture rather than individuals - traditionally given as an offering of friendship between two different tribes.
Inanga – This pounamu takes its name from a freshwater fish native to New Zealand. It is pale and often transparent, like the young of the Inanga fish. It is pearly white to grey green in colour, and ranges from translucent to quite opaque. It can change colour over time, developing a light olive tint as it ages and oxidises - Highly prized by the Māori and the desired material for making Mere and Patu.
