This Hand Forged knife has a beautiful Kawakawa Pounamu & Petrified Wood handle, fixed with brass rivets to full-tang blade and carried in a handcrafted leather sheath with a belt loop. The gorgeous colour of the Petrified Wood, joined perfectly to the stunning Kawakawa Greenstone on the handle, is a wonderful combination of colour and tone in a knife that is sharp and ready to use.
Kawakawa- is the most common variety of Pounamu. It comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used for gem purposes.
Petrified Wood
—formed when ancient trees were buried by volcanic ash and permineralized with silica and iron—features rich graining, rings, and colours ranging from white to deep black, orange, and jasper. You can discover it locally in riverbeds
