Celebrating our National Rugby Team, The All Blacks

The All Blacks are the most successful international mens rugby side of all-time with a winning percentage of 76.77% over 637 tests (1903-2023).

Since playing their first Test match in 1903, the All Blacks have amassed numerous accolades and are considered one of the most prolific teams across any sport. The All Blacks are the first rugby team to win 500 Test matches and have three Rugby World Cups to their name, winning the title in 2011 and 2015, adding to the inaugural Cup they claimed in 1987. They have also won 10 of the 16 Tri-Nations trophies, seven of the nine Rugby Championships contested, and have most recently held the Bledisloe Cup for 20 years (2003-2023). The All Blacks also won the Tri-Nations in 2020 contested against Australia and Argentina.

Hei Matau(Fishhook) - Originally Māori have been fishermen. Their main food source was the sea, so a fishhook of high quality was a very valuable item to own. The hook became a symbol of prosperity, abundance, good health, power, authority and respect for the sea and its life in it. They also provide good luck and safety while travelling across water.

Traditionally carved from Whale bone, however these days many bone carvings are made from cattle bone as it is an ethically abundant source.
