A gorgeous Triple Pikorua Sculpture hand carved from a beautiful bright piece Kawakawa Pounamu, elegantly mounted on a contrasting very dark piece of Kawakawa Pounamu.
Pikorua- Double and triple Twists, resembles two intertwined pikopiko ferns. representing the paths of life and love or friendship and eternity. Double twists refer to the bond between peoples or culture rather than individuals - traditionally given as an offering of friendship between two different tribes.
Kawakawa- is the most common variety of Pounamu. It comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used for jewellery purposes.
