Moko Pounamu Kuru (Teardrop) Genuine NZ Kawakawa Greenstone & 9ct Gold - Kororareka
A striking Kuru pendant hand carved from a beautiful piece of Kawakawa Pounamu and set with a 9ct Yellow Gold bail. The triangular, faceted form catches the light beautifully, showing deep green hues with natural variation. A fine polish enhances the depth and richness of the Greenstone - an exquisite and contemporary taonga.
Roimata/Teardrop - Named for their teardrop shape, meaning tears of sadness or grief, and are widely regarded as touchstones in healing and meditation. It is often called the comfort stone and given to show sympathy, shared emotion and that they, the receiver, is not alone in their grief. The drop pendants are also believed to represent a connection to the whenua (the land) Aotearoa (New Zealand).
Kawakawa- is the most common variety of Pounamu. It comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used for gem purposes.
