Moko Pounamu Kuru (Drop) Genuine NZ Inanga Greenstone & 9ct Gold - Mangahoe
A beautiful Kuru carved from Inanga Pounamu with a 9ct Gold bail - a wonderful light Greenstone with a sandy coloured feature toward the edge of the pendant - a beautiful range of hues against the Gold.
Kuru- Drop pendants are regarded as touch stones for meditation and representing a connection to the whenua (the land) Aotearoa (New Zealand). The Kuru design is a simple slender length of pounamu worn to encourage knowledge, confidence and independence.
Inanga – This pounamu takes its name from a freshwater fish native to New Zealand. It is pale and often transparent, like the young of the Inanga fish. It is pearly white to grey green in colour, and ranges from translucent to quite opaque. It can change colour over time, developing a light olive tint as it ages and oxidises - Highly prized by the Māori and the desired material for making Mere and Patu.
