Moko Pounamu Koru Genuine NZ Auhunga Greenstone - Koutunui
This Koru pendant is hand carved from Auhunga Pounamu, showing soft green tones with gentle natural variation through the stone. The spiral form is clean and well balanced, giving the piece a calm sense of flow and renewal. Finished with a smooth polish, it carries subtle clarity and simplicity.
Koru- The Maori word for bright or loop. It refers to the shoots of the silver fern. The circular movement to the inner core refers to "going back to the beginnings". The unfurling frond itself is symbolic for new life, new beginnings, hope, personal growth, purity nurturing, a new phase in life, the spirit of rejuvenation and peace.
Auhunga- Genuine West Coast Greenstone from the Arahura River area, West Coast. Auhunga Pounamu is a pale opaque green colour. Resembling the Southern New Zealand mountains, its name translates to frosty, given as the intermediate of Inanga and Kawakawa.
