Moko Pounamu Knife Genuine NZ Kawakawa Greenstone - Ikawai
A Blacksmith's Knife by artist Kaleb Schad, featuring a gorgeous Kawakawa Pounamu teardrop cabochon set in the top of the handle. Blacksmith's Knives, tradition holds, were created by Smiths as a quick and inexpensive tool, often made from recycled materials, where the handle is a continuation of the blade often in a looped design as seen here. This knife is a beautiful example of craftsmanship, with a dark leather sheath with a belt-loop, and is sharpened and ready for work.
Knife Handle - Kawakawa & Steel- Kawakawa is the most common variety of Pounamu. It comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used for gem purposes.
