This Double Pikorua is hand carved from Raukaraka Pounamu, showing warm olive and golden-green tones with natural character throughout the stone. The twin twists flow smoothly with a balanced, symmetrical form, giving the pendant an elegant sense of movement. Finished with a fine polish, it’s a beautifully crafted piece with colour, warmth, and presence.
Pikorua- Double and triple Twists, resembles two intertwined pikopiko ferns. representing the paths of life and love or friendship and eternity. Double twists refer to the bond between peoples or culture rather than individuals - traditionally given as an offering of friendship between two different tribes.
Raukaraka- Genuine West Coast Greenstone from the Taramakau River Area. This is the term used by the Māori of the Cook Strait region of the Kawakawa variety that is streaked with a shade of olive green and has yellow and orange hues that blend into the greens. This stone shares its name with the New Zealand native Karaka tree.
