Moko Pounamu Double Pikorua (Twist) NZ Genuine Auhunga Flower Greenstone - Murai

A beautiful double Pikorua hand carved from a wonderful piece of Auhunga Flower Pounamu, the fabulous colours and patterns only heighten the beauty of this carving.

Pikorua- Double and triple Twists, resembles two intertwined pikopiko ferns. representing the paths of life and love or friendship and eternity. Double twists refer to the bond between peoples or culture rather than individuals - traditionally given as an offering of friendship between two different tribes.

Auhunga- Genuine West Coast Greenstone from the Arahura River area, West Coast. Auhunga Pounamu is a pale opaque green colour. Resembling the Southern New Zealand mountains, its --name translates to frosty, given as the intermediate of Inanga and Kawakawa.

Putiputi (Flower) Jade- is New Zealand’s most prized Greenstone, with pale green or ochre clouds of colour. This distinctive patterning and colouring come from the outside rim or 'rind' of the greenstone boulders or stones where the surface has oxidised.
