The huia feather, a revered treasure for Māori that symbolises leadership and mana. The feathers from the tail of the extinct huia were particularly prized and were worn in the hair or around the neck by both men and women. This design is an interpretation of the huia feather with its distinctive length and tip. The gold in these earrings represents the precious nature of this taonga.
Kawakawa- is the most common variety of Pounamu. it comes in many shades - from strong, rich green to dark green - and often has small dark flecks, which add to its character. Named after the leaf of the Kawakawa. It is the main type used in gem purposes.
